The Implementation Scheme of DVI/HDMI Interface Based on FPGA

In the last years, some products with high definition video display increased greatly. High definition video display is integrated inside or outside these products. Original equipment manufacturer is looking forward to using standard tablet display and interface technology to reduce the cost and providing long-term solutions.

In the consumer market, the growth of tablet display technology helps to choose unified interface and reduce the cost. Though Digital Video Interface (DVI ) and High-Definition Multimedia Interface (HDMI) have replaced most analog interface, the explosive growth of home theater needs to update the standard of DVI. However, DVI which needs a big connector limits the support for Digital Rights Management (DRM) and lacks the support for mono or multichannel audio. To meet the requirement of HDMI standards which is in evolution, it uses the same basic signal transmission just like DVI, supporting the smaller connector, more broadband (1080p resolution), DRM and 8 channels of multi-format audio.
